The bottom line
There are alot of different ideas about graphic design. What its for, who needs it, why use it. And alot of toot is talked about the subject itself. What font would win in a fight, Helvetica or Arial? Which colour gamut weighs more? RGB or CMYK?* We like to have fancy pants design conversations at Sushi too, but beneath it all we know that commercial graphic design is all about one thing: your bottom line.
Don't get me wrong. We care about design, not just as a commercial tool, as an art, a craft, as a way of seeing things and a method of solving problems. We love design, but we know that this is business. We aren't money mad, but in business that's how you keep score. (That's the most 80's thing I've ever typed) And the way we keep customers coming back is by helping them get high scores.
Communication
Effective graphic design is about breaking down the communication barriers between you and your customers, both current and future. It steers their understanding of who you are and what you can do for them and it helps you to control the way that they perceive the service that you offer. It can let potential customers realise that you provide the service they need and it can cement the relationship between your existing customers and you. But its not just about getting MORE custom. In fact, graphic design has a secret weapon.
Targeting
You know that scene in Terminator 2 where Arnie walks into the biker bar looking for something to cover up his nude muscles? His eyes scan the bar, assessing and targeting each individual in turn, stealthily rejecting everyone who doesn't fit? The graphics on screen show him mentally de-selecting them one by one, too big, too small, wrong height, wrong sex... until he finds someone who matches his profile.
This is your next mailshot. No, seriously. Imagine that your next mailshot, hand out or web revision attracts not only more customers, but more of the right kind of customers. We can use design to aim for particular demographic sets meaning that your message hits hardest only those you most want to respond. We can make it happen.
*Just for the record, RGB contains more colours, but each CMYK colour has four values, so in total CMYK is a bit heavier. To find out how Sushi Design can help your company, call us on 0116 223 0 113 today
